Commonly Asked Questions:
-
I cannot get the images to
show up. Why?
Make sure the correct CD is in your
CD-ROM Drive. The images are stored on the CD & must be inserted for
you to see the images.
You must also make sure that the
correct CD is inserted. Having the USA CD inserted & using the Germany
database will not
bring up the images.
Also, if your CD-ROM drive letter
assignment has changed ( either by adding or removing a hard drive, CD-Drive
or other device ),
EzStamp will not find the images,
as it internally stores the drive letter. You can manually reset it by
going to the EzStamp
Preferences Menu & selecting
Set Image/CD-ROM drive letter. There you just type in the new CD-ROM drive
letter assigned
by your system ( just the letter.
ie E , not E: )

When I try to open
up one of the databases, nothing happens. Why ?
A common mistake for new users is
they attempt to open the country Folders instead of the country files.
All EzStamp databases
as defined as DAT files ( ie.
USA.DAT , CANADA.DAT ). When you are at the Open A Country's File
dialog in EzStamp,
you must move the horizontal slider
bar to the Extreme right where all the DAT files are listed. Windows, by
default, displays
folder names FIRST & they will
appear first in the dialog box. Since EzStamp has over 85 databases available,
there will be
85 FOLDER names first, & then
the DAT files at the RIGHT SIDE of the dialog box. A handy feature in EzStamp
is the
AutoOpen File . This will open the
file you designate automatically, and bypass the File Open dialog. This
is very handy when
you are working on a particular
country & don't want to have to open the file each time. This AutoOpen
feature is set in the
EzStamp Help Menu, via the Set AutoOpen
File at StartUp option. You can clear it, once it has been set.
-
I cannot get the
Manual to appear when I hit F1. Why?
The EzStamp manual is a PDF file
& requires you to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your system.
If Acrobat Reader
was installed on your system BEFORE
you installed EzStamp, the path to the Acrobat Reader will have been set
for you. If you
installed Acrobat Reader AFTER you
installed EzStamp, or you have moved it, you will need to reset the Path
to Acrobat
Reader. This is easily done by going
to the EzStamp Preferences Menu, & select Set Path to Acrobat Reader.
EzStamp
will search your system & find
& set the path for you . A FREE copy of Acrobat reader is available
from the Adobe website
located at http://www.adobe.com
or one is available from the EzStamp CD as well.
-
I copied the images
to the Hard Drive but now my images do not show up. Why?
After you
copy the images to your hard disk in EzStamp ( from the File, Utilities
menu ), you must change the CD-ROM image
drive letter
by going to the Preferences Menu & select "Set Image/CD-ROM Drive letter".
This will now let EzStamp point to
to the images
you placed on your hard disk. In some cases, the images will still not
show up. This is caused by an improper
copy. When
you copy the images to your hard disk, the images will reside in a folder
structure as indicated below. Each country will
have it's
own subdirectory beneath the EzStamp folder.
Example
A
C:\ezstamp\usa\*.bmp
C:\ezstamp\canada\*.bmp
If the file
structure looks like this:
Example
B
C:\ezstamp\ezstamp\\usa\*.bmp
C:\ezstamp\ezstamp\canada\*.bmp
then you must
move the countries folders up one level so they look like Example A
& NOT like Example B
